Over the past few years, much work has been done in helping teachers unpack the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in an effort to provide students with three-dimensional instruction.  Recently, this focus has expanded to include implementing three-dimensional assessment practices that better align to both the intent of the standards and the changes made to classroom instruction.  There is one additional change that needs to accompany these - a change in the way feedback is provided to teachers during the observation process.  Three-dimensional feedback is critical in helping teachers grow in their ability to plan instruction and assessment that meets the intent of the NGSS.  This workshop will focus on how we can provide targeted, science-specific feedback to teachers through the use of some simple techniques for gathering evidence during the pre-conference, observation, and post-conference process.  These techniques can be shared with other members of a district’s administrative team in an effort to collectively and consistently provide feedback aimed at science-specific teacher growth.
